Some showers and storms to the north and west this morning are capable of producing heavy rainfall and gusty winds. This activity will continue through sunrise. After that, there will still be a chance for a lingering shower or two to the north through midday.
The heat continues as we wrap up the month of August. High temperatures yesterday were mostly in the triple digits with a few 90s to the northwest. We can expect a similar day today. The breeze will back off a bit today but top wind speeds will still reach 15 to 20 mph.
Once we get through another hot afternoon there will be another chance for storms. This is most likely to happen to the northwest. A couple of strong to severe storms will be possible.
A few storms will last into the overnight before clearing out by the time many of us start our Tuesday. Much of Tuesday will be dry with the exception of the evening. There will be another chance for a few storms to the northwest with some rain possibly clipping Southwest and North Central Kansas.
The heat is not going anywhere anytime soon. Any moisture will also be meager and mainly still to the north and west.
