ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- Albany County says demolition of the Central Warehouse is getting nearer as cleanup work inside the long-vacant building nears completion.
The county says workers have removed more than 4,000 tons of material and debris from inside the 400,000-square-foot, 11-story building at 143 Montgomery Street. It said the abatement process is nearly complete and the project is waiting for permits from Amtrak before demolition can begin.
“Today’s update, together with neighborhood forums and conversations carried out by Advance Albany County Alliance, continues our promise to keep Albany County and the Capital Region informed of the progress toward demolishing the Central Warehouse.
