GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling is looking to demolish a vacant office building and add more truck parking at its southwest Grand Rapids site.
The main bottling plant, which employs nearly 220 people, is located at 1440 Butterworth St. SW near I-196. The site also includes two auxiliary buildings.

One of those auxiliary buildings — a 7,100-square-foot, two-story office building at 1208 Butterworth St. SW near Garfield Avenue SW — has sat vacant for years “even after all efforts to use and/or lease the building,” Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling wrote in a narrative prepared for the city.
“Visually, if you stand outside of it, you can see cracks running up. You can see bricks ready to fall off,” company representative Eric Mark said at an Aug. 13 meeting of the Grand Rapids Planning Commission. “We’ve actually put in a barrier so that people can’t park there.”
