As we forge ahead into September, there are a few things we’ll be leaving behind in August, namely a number of San Antonio restaurants that said their final goodbyes over the past month.
Several local heavy-hitters exited the scene unexpectedly, as a handful of San Antonio suburbs lost out on locations from a major chain. Read on to see which restaurants called it quits in August 2026.
Noy’s Thai Bistro
The owners of Noy’s Thai Bistro decided to retire the business by the end of August, bringing its 15-year run to a close. The Universal City restaurant was a favorite for Thai staples such as pad Thai and panang curry.
Singhs Vietnamese
This closure was one of the year’s biggest shocks, and customers are still reeling. Singhs Vietnamese was supposed to return from a brief hiatus on August 5, but after more than a week of being closed, MySA confirmed that all San Antonio locations were permanently closed.
Gold Feather Birds & Beers
As of August 11, Gold Feather was the latest restaurant to be locked out of Park North Shopping Center over an alleged rent dispute with property management. Since then, the chicken concept has been integrated into the kitchen at LadyBird Beer Garden.
Sushi Zushi at Lincoln Heights
Sushi Zushi’s Lincoln Heights location closed after nearly two decades of operation, but the local sushi chain claimed it was relocating. Presently, Sushi Zushi has two open locations, one in Stone Oak and the other at the Colonnade.
Zorbas Greek Mediterranean Grill
After 18 years, Zorbas Greek Mediterranean Grill announced the bittersweet end of its service in the Castle Hills area on August 13. The family-owned restaurant thanked its loyal customers and supporters who kept it going all those years.
Slim Chickens in Helotes
Popular chicken-tender chain Slim Chickens closed its Helotes location after finishing out a lease on Bandera Road. The franchise ownership group behind Slim Chickens told MySA that the company is still expanding its footprint in the San Antonio area.
Tu Asador Mexican Steakhouse at Encino Rio
Tu Asador hasn’t folded completely, as its original Castle Hill-area location is still open for business. However, the Mexican steakhouse confirmed that it closed its Encino Rio location as part of a difficult business decision.
Rolando’s Super Tacos on Shasta Avenue
The Southside has been abuzz about the extended temporary closure of Rolando’s Super Tacos on Shasta Avenue, so MySA followed up on August 27. It appears that the restaurant is more or less permanently closed until new ownership takes over the property.
