KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Schools across the Kansas City metro are feeling the effects of this week’s extreme heat, with some calling for early dismissal due to outages and others pushing back game times amid soaring temperatures.
A large portion of the United States will remain under a large heat dome over the next several days, ushering in the new month with temperatures of 95 degrees or higher.

FOX4’s Joe Lauria said in his blog Monday that average highs this time of year are around 85 degrees. However, for most of the week, metro residents can expect temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above average.
