(WJW) — A handful of local schools are closing or adjusting schedules as temperatures are expected to hit concerning levels over the next couple of days.

According to the National Weather Service, a HEAT ADVISORY will go into effect for several local counties starting Tuesday at 2 p.m. and running through Wednesday at 8 p.m. FOX 8 meteorologists forecast heat index values could be up to 100° with air temps near 90° across the western half of the area.
The NWS warns the hot temperatures and high humidity could cause heat related illnesses.
As a result, several local schools are taking precautions.
