STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A hearing officer has removed Stockbridge Councilwoman Lakeisha Gantt from an investigative panel examining allegations against Mayor Jayden Williams, ruling that she went “beyond her role” by contacting the mayor’s family and discussing potential evidence.
Hearing Officer Gino Brogdon Sr. made the ruling during a Monday hearing, citing messages Gantt sent to Williams’ grandmother about the allegations. Brogdon also referenced an email from Gantt that he said was “clearly a threat.”
“She went beyond her role as a member of an investigative body … to contacting people, communicating potential evidence, stating obvious her leanings about whether the charges were true and whether Mayor Williams presented a danger to the public,” Brogdon said. “Those things all taken together, I don’t think it’s appropriate. I couldn’t call the process fair if she stayed on the panel.”…
