ISP trooper ensures baby’s smooth delivery on I-69

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A mother and newborn are making a smooth recovery from a whirlwind delivery thanks to a trooper’s quick actions Sunday morning, the Indiana State Police announced.

Trooper Sam Waterhouse with ISP’s Fort Wayne District was patrolling I-69 near Auburn when he spotted a vehicle going “at an extremely high speed,” the agency said. The trooper pulled the vehicle over but the driver told him his wife was in labor “and the baby was coming immediately,” according to the release.

By the time the trooper came back with his medical kit, the father was already delivering the baby on the interstate…
