A 60-year-old with five prior drug trafficking convictions was charged Monday in San Francisco after authorities found more than 8 kilos of narcotics in coordinated raids throughout the Bay Area, authorities said. Darrell Hargrove and two accomplices — 48-year-old Shantoya Cruz and 46-year-old Iisha Washington — were arrested Thursday in San Francisco and each charged with multiple drug offenses, according to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
The charges came after the Alameda County Narcotics Task Force searched locations associated with Hargrove in Oakland, San Francisco, Stockton, Vallejo and Hayward, authorities said Monday. The task force said it found about 5.5 kilos of heroin, 2 kilos of powdered cocaine, 1 kilo of cocaine base, as well as 32 grams of meth, 4.4 kilos of cannabis and about 200 suspected counterfeit oxycodone pills. Authorities also recovered about $15,000 in cash and two handguns, according to the task force. The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office gave different figures for some of the seized items. Hargrove has five previous felony convictions for narcotics trafficking and was arrested in February in Stanislaus County on suspicion of possessing controlled substances for sale and transporting them, authorities said. Investigators believed he had been trafficking large amounts of drugs throughout the greater Bay Area.
Hargrove, Cruz and Washington were each charged with drug possession for sale. Hargrove and Washington also are facing charges related to possession of cocaine base and meth, while Cruz faces charges related to the oxycodone and firearms that were found. Hargrove was also charged for possession of firearms and possession of oxycodone as well as for transporting cocaine, heroin and cocaine base. Prosecutors allege that Hargrove and Cruz possessed controlled substances while armed and that both illegally possessed firearms as convicted felons.
