NORMAN, Okla. – The City of Norman is considering a proposal that could change city boundaries and affect how some residents receive essential services.
The proposal would potentially de-annex land east of 60th Avenue, an area that includes portions of Ward 5. The idea is being considered as a way to reduce costs to the city’s general fund, but residents and council members are raising concerns about what could happen to police, fire and trash services.

The proposal was brought forward by Ward 8 Councilmember Scott Dixon, chairman of the Business and Community Affairs Committee.
