- Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Vandalized One Week After Country Music Legend’s Death (parade.com)
Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is being repaired after it was vandalized just a week following the country music icon’s passing at age 80, after a brief battle with cancer.
Footage shared by KNX News shows crews working to replace the star, which was first awarded to Parton in 1984. The singer’s name had been scratched off the star, and reports indicate that flowers placed there were stolen the night of August 31.
A spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce told TMZ that the star had existing cracks and was already scheduled for repair on the following Tuesday. They confirmed that fan reports on the vandalism prompted immediate action.
In the wake of Dolly’s death, an outpouring of tributes has celebrated her lasting impact on music and culture. Her estate has now announced a two-day festival, aptly named Dollyfest, set to take place over two consecutive weekends in 2027 in Nashville and London. Originally planned for January 2026 to mark her 80th birthday, the event was postponed due to health concerns.
Danny Nozell, founder and CEO of CTK Enterprises and one of the festival organizers, explained, “We had the venue booked and announcement ready, but Dolly had to step back after initial health challenges in August 2025. Many ask, ‘What Would Dolly Do?’ Now, Dollyfest embodies ‘What Dolly Would Do.’”
Nozell emphasized that while fans are encouraged to celebrate Dolly in their own ways, the festival aligns with what Dolly herself envisioned rather than a traditional memorial. “It feels more appropriate to let tributes happen naturally and then honor her legacy with this festival she truly dreamed up,” he said.
Dolly Parton’s influence continues to inspire fans worldwide, and Dollyfest promises to be a fitting tribute to her remarkable life and career.
