FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Firefighters dealt with an apartment fire that impacted four units in Fresno on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Fresno Fire Department.
Fire crews responded to reports of an apartment fire in the 2600 block of First Street just south of Shields Avenue around 1:30 p.m., according to officials. Engine 5 arrived on scene first to find smoke emerging from the attic vents, according to the department.
As a result, the crews on scene requested additional support, and a total of 45 firefighters responded to the scene, according to Fresno Fire. The building with smoke emerging was a four-unit apartment, officials say.
Fire crews say that firefighters made sure the building was evacuated while trying to find the source of the fire in the attic. All the residents made it out uninjured because people walking by had alerted them to the fire, according to firefighters.
