INDIANAPOLIS — A man leaving work in Lebanon called 911 after noticing a tailgating vehicle wouldn’t stop following him. This ended up kicking off a high-speed chase on Interstate 65 that only ended after the fleeing car barrel-rolled four to five times while tryinig to elude a pursuing state trooper.
Indiana State Police said Vincent Perkins Jr., 36, of Indianapolis was the only man found inside the smashed-up Infiniti QX8 that was resting on its roof in a ditch by the end of the police chase. Perkins reportedly gave police a fake name and insisted someone else was driving the car, despite police seeing no one else crawl out of the wreckage.
According to court documents, the incident began early on Aug. 23, when a man left his job in Lebanon and was on his way home to Greenwood when he noticed a silver Infiniti tailgating him on I-65. The man said the car was only inches from his bumper, so he eventually exited the interstate in an attempt to lose the tailgater.
But the Infiniti kept following the man, despite him taking multiple exits. This prompted the man to merge back onto the interstate and call police at approximately 3:20 a.m.
