Fake FBI Agents Invade Newark Woman’s Home, Steal $7,500 From Safe, Police Say

NEWARK, N.J. – A group of men posing as FBI agents forced their way into a woman’s Newark apartment, held her down and stole $7,500 from a bedroom safe, police said.

Three men entered a building on Mott Street near Raymond Boulevard in the Ironbound section at about 2:30 p.m. Aug. 27, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety. A fourth suspect waited outside in a black Toyota Camry Solara.

The men went to the woman’s third-floor apartment, knocked on the door and claimed they were federal agents, police said. They demanded that she open the door.
