TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) — Cigarettes are the most littered item in the country, and the city of Tybee Island will work to combat it through an initiative that delivers beverage coasters to local businesses.
“Through this regional initiative, we’re working with coastal communities and local businesses to raise awareness and encourage everyone to keep cigarette butts out of our streets, waterways and beaches,” a city spokesperson said on social media.
The beverage coasters promote a United States Environmental Protection Agency project titled “Georgia’s Coast is Not an Ashtray”, which receives $20,000 in grants annually. The city of Tybee Island and Tybee Clean Beach Volunteers are partners of the project…
