BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Officials released new details after a mother and child were killed in a Maringouin apartment fire Monday morning.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office stated that the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. Investigators have been unable to determine whether a smoke alarm was working when a fire started in the kitchen area on the unit’s first floor.
