The south side of Lafayette is packed with heavy traffic, big box stores and million-dollar homes in River Ranch. But a young John Broussard, born in 1936 in the area, knew when company was coming. A car kicked up the dust on a lone dirt road.
Broussard remembers when electricity and indoor plumbing arrived in his neighborhood of Creole-speaking, farm families. Before that, his family’s two-hole outhouse was considered luxury.
