BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The lone candidate for Benton County, former Arkansas State Rep. Austin McCollum, is now facing an additional felony charge in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident, according to court documents.
McCollum, 35, was arrested on Aug. 1 for third-degree battering, aggravated assault on a family or household member and first-degree false imprisonment charges. McCollum was released on Aug. 2 after posting a $10,000 bond.
At the time of his arrest, the false imprisonment and aggravated assault charges were felonies and the domestic battering charge was a misdemeanor. On Aug. 31, prosecutors upgraded the domestic battering charge at a felony.

The criminal information sheet, listing the upgraded charge, said that McCollum caused “serious physical injury” to his wife.
