Douglas County authorities clear encampment near public trail

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office cleared a homeless encampment near 41st and Hamilton on Sept. 1, steps from the beltline trail.

The encampment was hidden behind large trees and wooden pallets.

Douglas County Sheriff Aaron Hanson told people at the camp they had 24 hours to leave or deputies would arrest them.

One person at the camp, who had an outstanding warrant, was taken into custody…
