WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A former loan officer at a Garden City credit union has been sentenced to 19 months in federal prison for funneling more than $171,000 into his own bank account.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Kansas said Tuesday that Ricky Naovoravong, 39, had pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement by a credit union employee.
The scheme reportedly unraveled in August 2024, when a manager noticed a transfer from a member’s savings account into Naovoravong’s personal checking account. Prosecutors said Naovoravong created paperwork for a $5,000 loan in the member’s name, then used the victim’s account to make payments that were routed back to him.
