BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Nearly two years after a water crisis left hundreds of homes in an east Bakersfield neighborhood without running water, residents are being told changes are underway that could shape the future of their water service.
Following a meeting last week, residents learned the original water company was resigning. Now, they are getting more information about a leadership change and what it could mean for improving water service in the area.
In June 2024, about 200 homes in the neighborhood were left without running water during a heat wave. Jesse Cleveland Jr., who has lived in the area for more than 30 years, said the issue has continued, and residents are still trying to understand what is happening with their water system.
