Before becoming Fountain Inn Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year, Sara Matson began her teaching career on the bottom bunk of her childhood bunk bed.
“I have a twin sister, and when we were little, we would play school,” Matson said. “We had bunk beds, and we would put blankets around and make our own schoolroom on the bottom bunk. I was always the teacher, and she was always my student. So since a young age, I always had a desire to work with kids and to teach.”
Today, Matson works as a fifth grade math and science teacher at Fountain Inn Elementary School. She began teaching in 2006 in her home state of Illinois, following her graduation from Olivet Nazarene University…
