HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — A dear in Henderson suffering from “dear warts” has died.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife says the deer suffered from cutaneous fibroma, which is more commonly known as “deer warts.”
The organization says they believe the warts caused an infection leading to the deer’s death. Specialists say this deer had more warts than normal for that type of disease. Officials hope to alleviate any public fear about the disease spreading across species.
“The papilloma virus that causes cutaneous fibroma is specific to deer and members of the deer family,” Deer Program Director Joe McDermott said. “So, there is no concern for humans or their pets.”…
