WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Over its 40 years in operation, the 101 Club earned a reputation as one of the only safe, sober spaces for outdoor activities. But the dozens of people who frequent the club will soon need to find a new venue.
The Wichita Fellowship Club, the owner of the 101 Club, said that the building will close its doors in a few days and the land will be put up for auction in October.
Austin Morgan, president of the Wichita Fellowship Club’s board, said the board voted unanimously to close. He said that the rising costs of operation, combined with waning interest in some of the 101 Club’s activities, made it hard to justify keeping doors open.
“Some of the things for that portion of what we do were just getting harder and harder to break even by the end of the year,” he said.
