Kern County coroner confirms man found in residential fire died of smoke inhalation, thermal burns

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County coroner’s office has completed a postmortem exam and confirmed that the man who was found in a house fire in June died of smoke inhalation and thermal burns.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence on the 1000 block of Royal Way after receiving reports of a fire on June 7.

Inside the home, personnel found 70-year-old David Calderon unresponsive. The Kern County Coroner’s Office said Calderon was determined to be deceased at the scene, around 11:23 p.m.
