Illinois man awaits federal sentencing after guns found in stolen truck in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — A Carmi, Illinois man arrested during a stolen vehicle investigation in Evansville last year has pleaded guilty to federal gun charges and is now awaiting sentencing.

Daniel K. Poshard pleaded guilty in June to possession of firearms by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm. The U.S. District judge accepted the plea and found Poshard guilty. His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 16 at the federal courthouse in Evansville.

The federal case stems from Poshard’s Sept. 20, 2025 arrest, which Eyewitness News previously reported.

According to his federal plea agreement, an Evansville Police Department officer received an alert about a stolen Ford F-150 traveling on Weinbach Avenue. The officer found the truck outside a pawn shop and saw Poshard leave the passenger side of the vehicle…
