A wind advisory for portions of Hawai‘i Island will take effect at noon and is expected to continue through the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, the winds are not directly related to Hurricane Lowell, which is passing several hundred miles south of the Hawaiian Islands. The 25 to 35 mph winds are coming from the east with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
