GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Some South Carolina families are paying hundreds of dollars more each week for child care after the state paused a major child care assistance program, leaving parents to cover more of the cost on their own.
The Working Families’ Childcare Scholarship Program, which has helped families afford child care across South Carolina, was paused last December after federal pandemic-era funding ended and demand for assistance exceeded available funds.
