San Antonio homeowners could pay more in property taxes next year

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio homeowners could see their property taxes increase under the city’s proposed 2027 budget.

The $4.4 billion spending plan would increase the city’s budget by about 4.1% and includes a proposed approximate 3.93% increase in property taxes for homeowners.

The city’s memo lists the following rates in its proposal for the Fiscal Year 2027:

  • Homestead property average taxable value is $231,356
  • Median-valued homestead property is $197,850
  • Property tax bill for the current Fiscal Year at $0.54159 based on median value: $1,086.51
  • Property tax bill for the proposed tax rate of $0.56288 based on median value: $1,113.66
  • Property tax bill for the no-new-revenue rate of $0.54773 based on median value: $1,083.68
