PHOENIX (AZFamily) — According to the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona, 2,200 Arizonans are currently on organ transplant waiting lists, and 1,588 of them are in desperate need of a kidney.
As health advocates urge more people to consider becoming donors, one Valley family is sharing how a living donor program gave them a second chance at life.
Betzabeth Sotelo was teaching abroad when she received the news that her 25-year-old brother needed another kidney transplant. He had received his first transplant at age 18, but it ultimately failed.
