Police in Washington responded to what was initially reported as a home burglary, only to discover the suspected intruder was a wild bobcat.
According to Dexerto, officers with the Kirkland Police Department were dispatched to a home last week after receiving a report of a possible break-in. When officers entered the residence, they found the bobcat perched at the top of a staircase.
Drone Used to Monitor the Bobcat
After locating the animal, officers called wildlife officials for assistance. While waiting for them to arrive, police used a drone to monitor the bobcat’s movements inside the home and help ensure everyone’s safety.
Investigators believe the animal likely entered the residence through an open window after climbing a nearby tree. Authorities also suspect the homeowner’s pet cat may have attracted the bobcat to the property.
