SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – Summit County first responders were knee deep in water Thursday evening, helping residents to safety after powerful storms flooded the streets.
The Springfield Township Police Department took to social media after 7 p.m., sharing video of police officers and firefighters conducting a water rescue along Abington Road in the Sawyerwood community.

Earlier in the evening, the police department warned residents to be cautious because several areas were flooded.
The Springfield Township police chief confirmed that some residents impacted by the flooding were evacuated.
Storms leave thousands without power across Northeast Ohio
“All residents within the impacted zone have been formally notified. Those directed to evacuate have secured appropriate lodging for the evening as a precautionary measure due to elevated flood conditions,” Chief Jack Simone wrote in a statement. “The situation continues to be monitored closely, and further updates will be issued should conditions change.”…
