BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was sentenced to two to four years in prison for stealing around $136,000 from two utility companies as part of a fraud scheme, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.
Umar Graham Jr., 30, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree grand larceny, second-degree unlawful possession of personal identification information, and first-degree scheme to defraud in April.
Officials said that between February 2024 and August 2025, Graham operated “Buffalo CPN,” which he used to obtain personal identifying information and payment from victims after offering utility bill relief. He then opened new accounts using fraudulent credit privacy numbers, officials said…
