A Jurupa Valley man who severely beat his girlfriend with a tire iron while enraged, then snatched their 1-year-old son and fled, is slated to be sentenced Friday to more than 15 years in state prison.
In July, after deliberating less than two hours, a Riverside jury convicted 46-year-old Armando Julio Alvarado Ramirez of premeditated attempted murder and sentence-enhancing allegations of using a deadly weapon during a felony and inflicting great bodily injury in an act of domestic abuse. They acquitted him of making criminal threats.
The convictions occurred during a retrial. A different jury in 2025 had deadlocked on the attempted murder charge and enhancements. However, the earlier jury did find Ramirez guilty of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence…
