JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 66-year-old Georgia man is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly impersonated another person to steal $60,000 from a Jacksonville bank — then returned weeks later to try to take even more.
William Humphries, of Savannah was arrested Monday by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Pretrial Detention Facility.
What happened at the bank
According to the arrest report, officers were first called to a bank on Jacksonville’s Southside on Aug. 21. The branch manager told police that the bank’s fraud department had flagged a $60,000 loss tied to a transaction that occurred on July 28, 2026.
A suspect had entered the branch, presented himself as an account holder and used that person’s personal information — including a driver’s license — to withdraw $20,000 in cash and obtain a $40,000 cashier’s check.
Suspect returned weeks later
