POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A traffic stop in Polk County led to drug trafficking charges Wednesday evening after a deputy spotted suspected methamphetamine residue on a passenger’s identification card.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy pulled over a black Ford sedan around 7 p.m. on Sept. 2, 2026. During the stop, 38-year-old Destinee Loyd of Lakeland, who was a passenger, attempted to exit the vehicle and walk away.
The deputy instructed Loyd to return to the car and asked her to provide identification. When Loyd handed over her ID, the deputy noticed a powdery substance visible on the card. A field test of the residue yielded a positive result for methamphetamine…
