Over $84,000 in Unclaimed Property Uncovered for Fairgoers at Kentucky State Fair

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky State Treasury identified more than $84,000 in unclaimed property for commonwealth residents during the 2026 Kentucky State Fair, State Treasurer Mark H. Metcalf announced.

Throughout the multi-day event in Louisville, Treasury staff assisted 1,356 fairgoers who stopped by the agency’s outreach booth to search state records, ultimately identifying at least $84,049 in unclaimed funds rightfully belonging to Kentucky citizens.

“We struck gold at this year’s State Fair — not just in the number of people who stopped by, but in the money we helped Kentuckians find,” said Treasurer Metcalf. “Every claim we help a Kentuckian make is a step toward getting their money back where it belongs, and we’re going to keep working to put money back in the hands of Kentucky families.”…
