Amazon Builds Second Louisville Warehouse, Adding 200-Plus Jobs at $23 an Hour

Amazon is building a second same-day delivery warehouse in the Louisville area, a 324,500-square-foot facility at 8001 Air Commerce Drive that’s expected to open in the second half of 2027 and bring more than 200 new jobs to the region. The site sits near the Outer Loop close to I-65, in the Louisville Renaissance Zone not far from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

According to WDRB, new warehouse employees at the Air Commerce Drive site will start at $23 an hour plus benefits. As WLKY reports, the investment is expected to create more than 200 jobs once the facility is up and running.

This will mark Amazon’s second same-day delivery site in the Louisville area, following a sub-same-day facility that opened on Plantside Drive in late 2024 out of the Blankenbaker Station industrial park. The new warehouse will lean on mobile autonomous robots to help human workers sort and move packages, a combination the station’s report says is designed to speed up fulfillment while easing the physical strain on staff.

Groceries and Prescriptions Join the Mix

The Air Commerce Drive facility won’t just handle general merchandise. It’s set to manage same-day deliveries of perishable groceries and Amazon Pharmacy prescriptions, building on a same-day grocery and pharmacy rollout the company launched across a 55-mile radius around Louisville in February 2026, per the same account. That expansion followed Amazon’s decision to permanently close its physical Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go stores nationwide, shifting capital instead toward centralized same-day delivery networks that cover everyday items, perishables and medications alike…
