SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — All the vendors at the New York State Fair were shut down Wednesday due to intense rainfall, and Restaurant Row was blocked off before noon. The following day has been about recovery and making up for lost business.
“I said, ‘It’s happened before, don’t worry about it,” Gregory Horan, owner of Horan’s at the fairgrounds, said. “15 more minutes later, it was pouring. I said, ‘Oh, that’s happening kind of quick.’ 45 minutes went by, and we were panicking. I went, ‘Alright, let’s get everything off the floor, all of our stuff that we have stocked.'”
Horan said nearly six inches of water seeped into his stand. Across the path, Tie Dye Roses also felt the impact.
“I found all my fans floating; 12 totes were floating around, and they were filled with water,” Susan Kinderman, owner of the tie-dye business, said. “My iPad went downstream.”
