GONZALES — A Houston man has been arrested in connection with a scam that cost an elderly victim approximately $275,000, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Bobby Webre said detectives arrested Zulkar Nain, 34, after an investigation into electronic communications targeting the victim between May and August.
During the scam, someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer told the victim there was an active warrant for their arrest and instructed them to send money through cryptocurrency ATMs, gift cards and FedEx shipments…
