SHREVEPORT, La. — Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit obtained an arrest warrant Thursday for a former controller accused of stealing nearly $139,500 from a local business.
Authorities charged Brett Burdges with one count of access device fraud following an investigation into unauthorized transactions at Custom Built Cabinet & Supply. Burdges, who began working for the company in 2021, oversaw accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchases, and the balance sheet.
Company owners began an internal financial review after American Express contacted them in August regarding suspected fraudulent charges on a business account.
