RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – City leaders are addressing criticism following the Hawk Fire, after residents shared their experiences during a Reno city council meeting last week.
Residents say road infrastructure could not handle the number of people evacuating. Some residents said they waited in traffic for hours while trying to escape.
Residents describe evacuation delays
Kendee Bartolome, a resident on Morgan Hill Court, said, “there were roadblocks, hundreds of cars, my 6-year-old in the car crying and asking me what is going to happen.”
Danny Cleous, a resident in North Valleys, said, “they sat on Lemmon Drive in gridlock for 4 hours, they had to go down a dirt road not the freeway, it’s BS.”…
