PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — There is a Code Orange Ozone Alert and a burn ban from 10 am to 8 pm for Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, and Stokes Counties.
People with asthma, emphysema, or heart issues, as well as children and older adults may need to limit outdoor activity.
A Heat Advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Chatham and Montgomery Counties. The heat index is expected to climb to between 102 and 105 degrees.
Hot, hazy, humid conditions are ahead for the day. We will start the day with clear skies, then partly cloudy conditions develop for the afternoon. Highs return to near 97 degrees this afternoon, with heat indices in the Triad reaching 100 to 101 degrees.
There is a 20% chance of showers or a few thunderstorms late in the afternoon and especially the early evening hours. Isolated storms may produce gusty winds.
