Baton Rouge man sentenced to 40 years after pleading guilty to reduced charges in September 2024 killing

BATON ROUGE — A Baton Rouge man found guilty of killing a 44-year-old during a 2024 shooting has been sentenced to four decades behind bars.

Anthony Hayes, now 20, was originally arrested and charged with the second-degree murder of Johnny Green on Sept. 13, 2024. Nearly two years later, on Aug. 31, Hayes was sentenced to 40 years in prison on a reduced charge of manslaughter.

Hayes was also arrested on illegal use of a weapon, but this charge was later dismissed, court records show…
