20-Year-Old Man Shot Dead Near Forest Avenue, Cleveland Police Investigate

A 20-year-old man was pronounced dead late Thursday night after suffering multiple gunshot wounds near Forest Avenue on Cleveland’s East Side, according to police. Officers were sent to the area after receiving reports of gunfire, and the victim’s time of death was recorded at 11:56 p.m.

Cleveland police officers responded to the area of Forest Avenue and established a crime scene, according to C.O.R.P. News, which first reported the shooting. Fire and EMS crews were also requested to the scene, though the outlet reported no additional details about what led up to the gunfire. Cleveland police are investigating the death as a fatal shooting, and the outlet says updates will be provided as more information becomes available. As of this report, no arrests or suspect information have been disclosed.

Another Fatal Shooting in a Troubled Corridor

The shooting adds to a string of violent incidents that have rattled the same stretch of Cleveland’s East Side in recent weeks. Just weeks earlier, a man in his 40s was shot in the neck near East 125th Street and Luke Avenue, not far from Forest Avenue, in an incident Hoodline covered in detail. Days later, a man was fatally shot on East 116th Street, and a separate shooting on East 114th Street left a vehicle flipped and knocked down a utility pole.

Those incidents fall within the jurisdiction of the Cleveland Division of Police Fourth District, which covers southeast Cleveland neighborhoods including Buckeye-Shaker, Union-Miles, and Mount Pleasant, according to Cleveland Urban News. Forest Avenue itself has drawn law enforcement attention before: in November 2024, the U.S. Marshals’ Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested a 16-year-old suspect wanted for aggravated murder at a residence in the 12900 block of Forest Avenue, as reported by WKYC. That arrest was tied to a fatal January 2024 shooting outside a nearby Sunoco gas station on East 93rd Street.
