PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Isolated strong storms are possible in the Piedmont Triad Friday evening. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for the entire FOX8 viewing area due to the potential for a few severe storms capable of producing damaging winds (up to 60 mph) or hail. Not everyone sees storms, but the environment is right for a few storms to tap into the available atmospheric energy and become severe. Temperatures fall from the 90s into the low 80s by late Friday night.
Skies will be partly cloudy during the overnight hours and morning lows will be in the low to mid-70s on Saturday. Skies will be mainly clear and sunny through Saturday morning and temperatures will reach the low 90s by lunchtime. Storm chances return on Saturday afternoon and evening with scattered strong storms capable of producing damaging winds and hail. A level 2 risk for severe weather is in place for the entire Piedmont Triad and anyone with outdoor plans should be keeping a close eye on the skies.
