SCHP Reminds Drivers Of Rules Regarding Stopped School Buses

With the 2026-27 school year officially underway, the South Carolina Highway Patrol issued a reminder.

Drivers are reminded to follow state laws regarding school buses. On two-lane roads, traffic traveling in both directions are required to come to a complete stop when a school bus activates its red lights and the stop arm is out. On multi-lane or divided roadways, vehicles traveling behind the school bus must stop, while opposing traffic on a separate divided multi-lane road may proceed with caution…
