WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Wisconsin are warning the public to do their part in helping prevent vehicle thefts as reports of incidents are on the rise.
According to the Wauwatosa Police Department, following several reports of vehicles being entered overnight throughout August, the presence of late shift officers was increased in the neighborhoods where the incidents had been reported.

During one shift, police found a vehicle that had just been entered and quickly set up a perimeter with the intent of catching the suspect. Following help from a drone unit, the suspect was found, arrested, and stolen property was recovered and returned to its owner.
Officials say that officers are out in the community every night, responding to calls but they need the public’s help as those in the community should make sure that they are locking their vehicles and removing valuables and other property from the vehicle…
