NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Harry Eves Jr. identified the teen who died Friday afternoon while riding a motorized bike on city streets as his grandson, Damiri Eves.
The New Orleans Police Department said Damari, 15, died Friday afternoon after a driver hit him while he was riding an electric bike without a helmet. Police first notified media of the fatal crash at 12:32 p.m.
The NOPD initially classified the case as a hit and run but changed it to a vehicle fatality after learning the driver had pulled over. Police said everyone at the scene cooperated with police but didn’t say whether any charges were expected in the case…
