WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) said full Red Line service would begin again for Metrorail on Labor Day, following nine weeks of major construction.
The work, which began on July 6, took place between North Bethesda and Frierndship Heights, concludes over the course of the Labor Day weekend. With the end of the construction, rail service will be restored to Grosvenor-Strathmore, Medical Center, and Bethesda Metro stations.
“We appreciate our customers and community partners for their patience throughout this project,” said Metro General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Randy Clarke. “This work delivers immediate improvements for customers today at Grosvenor-Strathmore while laying the foundation for a better-connected transit network in the future.”…
